- Mansun announce March 1998 tour dates for the UK.
The idea behind playing
such small venues is, according to Paul Draper, that " we wanted to play and visit
some places that wed'd never played before ".
January 1998
- Unofficial Mansun fanzine "Dark Mavis" features a full
exclusive interview with Chad at their studios.
September 1997
- Seven EP (Closed For Business) will be released on 5th October.
Again this will be available as a 2 CD set (as well as 7" and tape
formats, of course). CD 2 will feature CD-ROM Photo's of the band and the entire promotional video TAXLO$$ for where
�25,000 was given away to commuters at Liverpool Street Station.
June 1997
- This site gets its 6000th hit on the 6th June!!!!!!!!
(Out of interest - this site now gets about 250 hits a week...
however it peaked in April at about 500 hits a week!)

- Six EP (Taxloss) enters the UK Official Top 40 at number 15.
April 1997
- Six EP (Taxloss) released (28th April) on 12" vinyl and as
a two CD set with free poster.
- Interesting rumours about the Taxloss video promo. Read more

band are being threatened with legal action over it!
- Mansun perform Taxloss on TFI Friday (UK Channel 4) on 25th April.
- Paul Draper gets into a fight with security guards while on stage
at the Hard Rock Cafe, Kowloon in Hong Kong on the 13th April. For more
details, read this article about it. There
are also a couple of reviews on it.
- This site gets its 4000th hit on the 19th April (coincidently my 22nd birthday!)
- This site comes TOP of this week's
EUPHORIC Music Web Page Top 10 (for week ending 10th April 1997).
- Six EP will be released on April 28th as two CDs, and will feature "Taxloss" as
it's lead track.
- Mansun played a half hour set on 7th April on JJJ radio's
Live at the Wireless programme in Sydney, Australia. The set was:

- Mansun will play live on an Australian TV show on 5th April. The show's called
Recovery: a music related 3hour-on-Saturday-morning show with lots of bands
and interviews and clips and stuff. They'll be playing Stripper Vicar and maybe
something else, probably a bit of an interview.
- Mansun didn't turn up at PolyEster Records!
- They should be doing an instore signing at PolyEster Records in Melbourne on
the 5th April.
- They will be interviewed on an Australian radio station called 3RRR, on a show
called 'Far and Wide' (on 4th April).
- Mansun play live for Sunday Night Live (a kick off show) on Commercial
Radio 2 (Hong Kong) on 13th April.
March 1997

- I managed to buy a copy of Skin Up Pin Up on 7" vinyl from my HMV in
Oxford for �2.49 (despite the fact it was limited edition and was released 15 months
ago!!!!) (26th February). Theres still a copy there on CD too!!
- Debut album, Attack Of The Grey Lantern, released on 17th February.
Receives 8 out of 10 in the NME and gets a "Bloody Essential" in the Melody Maker!!!
- Their fifth EP, "She Makes My Nose Bleed" enters the UK Official Top 40,
straight in at number 9!!! Their first ever top 10 hit!!!

- Mansun's debut album, entitled "Attack of the Grey Lantern" will be
released on CD and Vinyl formats on February 17th. The vinyl
version will include a giant poster.
- Five EP will be released on 3rd February 1997 as two CDs. The first will
contain the lead track, "She Makes My Nose Bleed", and also three other
brand new songs. The second CD will also have "She Makes My Nose Bleed"
and again three other tracks, which may be some recordings of the band
live. It will also contain a free poster.

- Mansun appear on Top of The Pops! Aired 6th December.
- Their fourth EP, "Wide Open Space", enters the UK Official Top 40, straight in at number 15!!!
November 1996
- The band have edited a mini album in Japan called Japan Only EP - Special Mini Album,
with the following tracks :

- Moronica
- Ski Jump Nose has been included in a rare compilation of eighteen tracks from
differents bands. It has been edited in England by Polygram and is called Childline - Today's Top Unite For Charity.
- By the time the group release their
debut album next Spring they will have released a double album's worth of
material spread over five EP's. A fifth EP will be released in January
before the album.
- This month (December issue) the Vox Magazine edited a compact
disc that includes the track "Things Keep Falling Off Buildings".
- The group are now back to a four-piece with the permanent addition of
drummer Andy Rathbone from their native Chester. Andy joined the group for
their live performance on Chris Evans' "TFI Friday" and officially joins
the group this week.
September 1996
- Their third EP, "Stripper Vicar", enters the UK Official Top 40, straight in at number 19!!!
- Mansun, who release their third single "Stripper Vicar" on Parlophone on September 9, play their most extensive UK
tour to date in August/September. (See the gigography.)
- Mansun are currently working on their debut album with engineer Cliff Norell who has previously worked with REM,
amongst others. Norell asked to work with the band when he heard "Take It Easy Chicken", their second dingle on
Parlophone and their second Top 40 hit.
August 1996
- Mansun are back on the road again after a break recording their brand new single, "Stripper Vicar". The title track of
their 3rd E.P., "Stripper Vicar" is released by Parlophone on September 9th. The single comes with 5 brand new tracks
and will be available on limited edition 7" clear vinyl and also on 2 CD's, one of which includes a free poster of the band.
